IMF analyzes a loan request from Ecuador

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) received a credit line request from Ecuador after the devastating earthquake that hit the country on Saturday 16 April, said Wednesday Alejandro Werner, director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF.
The IMF will analyze the request made by Ecuador in order to count on the so-called Rapid Financing Instrument (IFR) of the agency, said Werner after an event in Mexico City.
Werner did not detail a specific amount in terms of the application.
IMF rules suggest that the credit line could reach up to 368 million, but the level of access will depend on the needs of the balance of payments of Ecuador.
