In December there will be another “national strike”

The leaders of the workers’ march held yesterday in Quito announced a nationwide work stoppage on December 1st and 2nd against the constitutional amendments, although the date has to be ratified this Saturday in Guayaquil.

Jorge Herrera, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), said that the demonstration was a preparatory march for December when the national strike of the people will be held. “We will summon a national strike when the Assembly treats the amendments, then we will go to the streets,” he warned.

“The country will rise,” insisted Herrera, who revealed that the CONAIE will summon in November 17 an assembly with the three regional organizations to resume the uprising.
