In Guayaquil, the largest electric charging station of Ecuador opens
The Municipality of Guayaquil, through the Municipal Transit Authority (ATM), delivered the largest electrolinera in Ecuador, which was built in a space located in the Samanes Park, on the side of the Narcisa de Jesus Highway, in the north of the city.
The facilities have 20 chargers to serve the same number of vehicles. It is estimated that 500 vehicles can be serviced daily, said Jorge Burbano, national manager of the Chinese company BYD, responsible for the construction and operation of the electrolinera.
Burbano explained that charging devices are different from others available in shopping centers because of their power and speed. “A car can charge 100% in 1.5 hours and a bus in 3.5 hours,” he said.
In Guayaquil, there are 20 buses and 50 taxis that operate with electricity.
Mayor Cynthia Viteri announced that carriers that decide to acquire this type of car will get an economic incentive of $ 15,000 (for buses) and $ 4,000 (for taxis).
For his part, Andrés Roche, manager of the ATM, urged Vice President Otto Sonnenholzner for the Electricity Regulation and Control Agency (Arconel) to reform the urban transport tariff schedule to favor, without additional and unnecessary charges, mobility electric
The users of the electrolinera will be able to access the service thanks to the BYD ELECTROLINERA application, available for Apple and Android devices, which will simplify the payment procedure for the loading of vehicles.
