Indefinite reelection is a reality

At least 5,795 authorities, including the President, will be able to run for the same position in future elections, regardless of how many periods they have been in office.
On May 24, when Lenin Moreno was inaugurated, the re-election ‘padlock’ was broken. A bill approved since 2015 through a constitutional amendment provides this.
“It is a serious attack on the republic because in every republic there is alternation, this differentiates it from the monarchy, which is permanent,” said Hernan Salgado, an expert on constitutional law.
