Indigenous ask to include their proposals in the Water Law
Posted On 02 Jun 2014
Indigenous organizations plan to ask the President of the National Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, to give back the report of theWater Resources Act to the Commission on Food Sovereignty in order to include their proposals.
According to the indigenous, the second debate on that document should take place in the plenary session. They argue that the document did not incorporate the basic issues under discussion, such as the de-privatization of water and the formation of the Single Water Authority.
The indigenous organizations stressed that water companies are not submitted to audits of this resource, and the access to irrigation water is not yet organized nor the regulation is approved.
