Indigenous highlight achievements of the protests
Salvador Quishpe, prefect of Zamora and one of the leaders of the march, speaks of four victories.
These achievements give them strength, he says, to insist in the file of amendments, the land and water acts, the devolution of the rectory of bilingual education, among others.
The release of those arrested in the marches was added to tge requests. For them there will be another march in Quito, tomorrow at 17:00. Quishpe anticipates it will not be massive as the previous ones.
According to the Regional Foundation for Human Rights Advisory (Inredh), between 13 and 17 August there were 113 detainees. The prosecution speaks of 126. In nine cases the suspects were released since judges did not find them in flagrante delicto. On Saturday Diego Fuentes, deputy interior minister, said there were more than 100 policemen injured. (I)
