The doors of the Municipal Cemetery of Cotacachi open every day, at 06:30. Mondays are the busiest days. According to Roberto Baroja, a concierge of the pantheon, that is the day preferred by the Kichwas who visit the tombs of their loved ones.

According to the indigenous worldview, people´s existence does not end with death, but they go to the spiritual world. That is why the relatives arrive with the favorite food of the people who left to the afterlife. (I)
