Industrial and craft leaders request legal certainty for bioethanol
Posted On 22 Aug 2017
Ecuadornews:
President of the Association of Alcohol Producers of Ecuador Gustavo Heinnert, who represents the three largest sugar mills (Coazucar, Valdez and San Carlos) and other small plants, said that the industrial sector seeks a more sustainable bioethanol state program over time.
Heinnert explains that the current management model, through an Executive order, can be canceled at any time, which does not provide a certainty to invest. He notes that a contract is signed annually with Petroecuador for the provision of biofuel for the production of Ecopais gasoline, which includes a 5% of bioethanol.
Heinnert added that the current contract in force until May 2018 envisages 110 million liters of bioethanol. (I)
