Internet campaign calls for tax elimination
The Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce is promoting a campaign for the elimination of the income tax (IR).
It began yesterday, through social networks.
Through a newsletter, the guild asked Ecuadorians to express their support with the hashtag #NoSeasComoGaston (#DontBeLikeGaston).
The hashtag came from a fictitious story the guild shared in the statement.
It is about two partners of a “small business,” Gaston and Prudencio.
The first wants to charge the money he´s going to withdraw from the bank to the annual profits. The second suggests to use that money to pay the employees, and then if there are profits, to distribute them.
With this example, the Chamber seeks to illustrate that paying an advance tax, as the IR, is ‘illogical’ and ‘unfair;’ even during this “hard times for economy of the country,” says the bulletin.
