Janeth Orbe Will Stay in a Tent on Mother’s Day
Orbe Janeth, wife of Col. Cesar Carrion, former director of the Police Hospital, now meets her ninth day of hunger strike and hopes to spend Mother’s Day in the tent where she has been during all this time, at the Public Prosecutions. With her health seriously deteriorated, she says she will continue in her struggle until they make his husband an adjudication hearing.
Carrion is accused of being accomplice of a murder attempted against President Rafael Correa during the riot police on 30 September. However, her family rejected this version and ensures that the officer has been used politically to justify the Government’s argument that the President was kidnapped in the hospital.
Therefore, Orbe began her protest last week. His goal, she says, is not to help her husband, but to allow him to be judged impartially, without pressure from the government.
The hearing will be held on Monday at 09:00, in the Fifth Court Criminal of Pichincha. But until then, Orbe continues her hunger strike.
