JetBlue, the ‘low cost’ airline, arrived in Quito
Yesterday, at 16:30 GMT, maiden flight aboard airbus A320 of the JetBlue company, coming from Fort Lauderdale (Florida), US, was welcomed with the traditional arch of water upon its arrival to the Mariscal Sucre airport.
According to Andrew O’Brian, CEO of the Quiport Corporation, each year, about 180 thousand passengers depart from Quito, thus, they expect that this route can grow by 40%.
Catalina Breton, Commercial and International Planning Director of JetBlue said they will offer reasonable and competitive rates, the company will also have a daily flight. She estimated that about 100 thousand passengers will travel per year.
For Fernando Alvarado, Minister of Tourism, the importance of JetBlue is the connection with 38 domestic points of the US, “and there will be many additional benefits and more people in the United States will be able to come to Ecuador with these connections.” (I)
