On December 28, 1987, this Diary, El Universo, announced the arrival of Mexican singer Juan Gabriel to Ecuador, for concerts in February and March 1988.

Guayaquil was his first stop. He appeared in the defunct nightclub William’s Exclusive Club and at the “Coliseo Voltaire Paladines Polo”.

But the “Divo of Juarez” not only visited the city because his presentations, but also the operating room to undergo an aesthetic touch.

So says Felipe Leyton, president of the Ecuadorian Society of Aesthetic Surgery, who says the interpreter of the song “Querida” underwent “a stretch of scalp to rise a little more his eyebrow.”

The doctor said that the surgery was simple, as it did not stop the composer to perform his presentation at the indoor arena, the next day.

Juan Gabriel and Leyton met in Miami through the Ecuadorian broadcaster Betty Pino (deceased in 2013), which lay in the United States.

“I did not charge a penny for the operation and he, in turn, acted free for the doctors of the Centennial Fellowship that were gathered at the William’s Exclusive Club…,” he says.
