Karla The solidarity of Karla Morales unleashes reactions in Ecuador
“If you want to hate me for helping, I want you to hate me with all your strength,” says Karla Rosales, a 29 year-old lawyer and human rights activist, who organized one of the first civil society support crusades in favor of the earthquake victims. Her answer is given before a series of negative comments and even insults she has received in her Twitter account @KarlaMoralesR, that accuse her of being sponsored by the opposition. But there are also more positive comments that support her initiative.
“I have not read everything they have written about me, I’m too busy helping. Also I do not understand why they attack me when I’m working with them. Luis Valverde, Vice Minister of the Magap (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries), who works with us in San Vicente called me and made it clear that there was no provision for the military to confiscate the donations,” she says from the collection center in the club of the private residential complex Terra Nostra, where she lives.
