Kerry will participate in international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza
The Department of State announced yesterday that John Kerry, Secretary of State, will travel to Cairo this week to participate in the international conference on rebuilding Gaza.
Jen Psaki, State Department spokeswoman, said that Kerry will attend the international donor conference scheduled for this Sunday in Cairo, to discuss how to rebuild the Palestinian territory, devastated during the Israeli offensive in the months of July and August.
Kerry “will join the European Union (EU), the UN, the Arab League and other foreign leaders in support of a great humanitarian relief and reconstruction effort to benefit the Palestinians living in Gaza,” said the spokeswoman.
“This will occur based on the commitment announced in September of 118 million American dollars in humanitarian assistance,” said Psaki.
The Department also confirmed Kerry’s subsequent visit to Vienna on October 15, for a new round of nuclear negotiations with Iran.
