Labour reforms include new ways of working
There are six ways of working that the Government proposes in the draft on the new Labour Code to ensure that those who perform such activities are affiliated to the Social Security Institute (IESS).
These new working ways provided in the project on the Labour Relations Code are: Work at home, telecommuting, housewife, independent, sexual workers and volunteering.
“These working ways must have IESS membership (…) we still do not know who will pay the IESS affiliation, how much they would have to pay, this will all be part of the new Labor Relations Code that is being developed,” said the minister on labor relations, Francisco Vacas, in an presentation held in Guayaquil last week.
Francisco Lopez Murillo, labor expert, says that the main objective of incorporating more working ways, is to avoid the IESS to run out of financial support to address the needs of members and retirees in the future.
