Latin American ministers pledge to reduce poverty
About 30 ministers from Latin America met in Mexico City in the seventh Ministerial Forum on Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. As a result of the appointment they committed to improve the health, the education and poverty reduction.
“The region must moveto sustainable development,in order to convergethe economic and socialprogressand at the sametime,protectthe environment,” said the Director of theUnited Nations Development Programmefor LatinAmerica and theCaribbean, JessicaFaieta.
“The measurement of multidimensional poverty is particularly important to provide new indicators and targets related to the integral development of people and access to their rights,” said the official.
Participants agreed on the need for measures to improve the welfare and improvement of social services like education and health.
