Legislative Commission has 30 days to approve the report on amendments
The President of the Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, convened a plenary meeting today at 11:30 to approve the formation of the legislature committee that will be responsible for analyzing the constitutional amendments.
The Legislative Council of Administration (CAL) ruled that the commission will have 30 days to approve the report on the constitutional amendments for first debate.
Some opposition groups pronnounced of not integrating the commission. Against this, Juan Carlos Cassinelli, one of the members of the committee, said it is the responsibility of legislators.
Cassinelli said that if legislators do not make up the committee, they will try “to ignore a constitutional ruling.”
He added that the opposition seeks to legitimize what the CC decided, “because it does not solve what they want.”
