Leopoldo Lopez will be tried by Venezuelan justice
The Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, will be tried, after this Thursday, by the local justice which ruled so, therefore, he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison according to Venezuelan laws.
The decision was known after a long and extense day of deliberations that began Wednesday morning at the Palace of Justice in Caracas, where last Monday began the preliminary hearing against Lopez.
“Leopoldo Eduardo López Mendoza was sent to trial for his alleged role in the violence events recorded on February 12 of this year, in the center of Caracas,” informed a Prosecution statement after taking the decision during the morning.
The organism accuses Lopez, incarcerated since February 18, of being “determiner in crimes of arson and damages, public incitement and conspiracy,” added the statement which details that the deprivation of liberty was applied.
