Local production of kitchens grew this month
The local production of induction cookers was tripled this month, hand in hand with the help of increased sales of home appliances, which also rebounded from earlier this year, according to managers of manufacturer companies Ecasa, Indurama and Mabe.
However, the announcement of last Friday of president Rafael Correa about buying of 500,000 induction cookers to China through a credit of $ 250 million, worries the industries, which ensure they are able to meet that demand. “I’m importing Chinese half-price cookers and with Chinese funding,” Correa said in an interview with journalists from Gonzanamá (Loja).
Henry Kronfle, head of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (EEC), who accompanied the president to China earlier this month, said there are three Chinese companies interested in sending complete kitchens and CKD (parts) to assemble them in the country.
