Lonesome George will be at the American Museum of Natural History in New York

Since September 18, the stuffed body of the turtle known as Lonesome George, from the Galapagos Islands, will be exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

Lonesome George was the last of his kind and died in 2012.

The museum was in charge of embalming the specimen (a process that lasted over a year). The body of the turtle can be appreciated by visitors of the museum until the end of 2014, when it returns to Ecuador, said the Galapagos National Park.
