Maduro announces capture of three Generals who intended to give a coup d’état

Posted On 25 Mar 2014

Maduro-UnasurPresident Nicolas Maduro announced this tuesday the arrest of three aviation Generals who supposedly intended ‘to raise the Air Force against the government.’

Maduro gave the information to the Foreign Ministers of UNASUR who arrived in Caracas to encourage the dialogue amid protests against the Chavist administration.

‘Last night, we captured three Aviation generals who were under investigation, thanks to the powerful moral of our Bolivarian National Armed Forces. Three generals who sought the raise of the Air Force against the legitimately constituted Government” denounced President Nicolas Maduro.

The president did not give the names of the officers arrested, and he only confirmed they were to the “order of military tribunals.” He also accused the opposition of being behind of an “attempted coup”.
