Manga del Cura belong now to Manabi

Yesterday the popular consultation conducted to the inhabitants of La Manga del Cura resulted in their belonging to the province of Manabi, after a long dispute with the Guayas province.

With 8525 votes, the inhabitants of the five enclosures that belong to this jurisdiction defended the thesis that this territory, 456 km long, belongs to Manabi. Juan Pablo Pozo, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), said that it took two hours to scrutinize 100% of the polls.

International observer Roberto Rosario, president of the Central Electoral Board of Dominican Republic, ensured that the electoral process had no trouble, it was carried out on time and more than 85% of the population voted.

In the five enclosures of Manga del Cura 13 285 of the 15 342 people enrolled voted. There were 290 blank votes and 0 null votes.
