MEC Announces New Baccalaureate
Posted On 08 Dec 2010
The secondary education system will change since April of 2011 in Ecuador. The Ministry of Education (MEC) will hold a workshop today (until Saturday), where 240 teachers from all over the country will attend.
The new baccalaureate will not require the choice of a specialization, instead, students will be able to choose optional subjects, said Education Minister Gloria Vidal.
MEC has taken this decision because of problems with variations between different educational curriculums and also to prevent students’ early specialization decisions.
In the coming years, Ecuadorian students will graduate as bachelors in science.
