Mery Zamora Under Political Persecution
Posted On 05 Sep 2012
Former president of the National Union of Teachers and alternating Assemblyman for Movimiento Popular Democrático, Mery Zamora, insists that she is politically persecuted by the Government and said that her case will take it to international courts.
Zamora claimed that it was the decision of President Rafael Correa to resume the criminal procedure against her for sabotage and terrorism, and this is a political persecution since this trial could sentence her to a term of 8 to 12 years in prison.
The former leader said the allegation is “an invention” of Carondelet, which maintains that she was responsible for bringing the students from the Aguirre Abad School to support the police uprising last September 30, 2010.
