Military officers guard the Canton Muisne after the murder of Vera

Military officers arrived between Tuesday night and early yesterday morning to the Muisne Island, seat of the canton Municipality, to ensure safety after the murder of the  elected Mayor Walquer Vera Guerrero, that occurred last Sunday.

They carriered riot gear and were located in different sectors such as the dock, downtown streets and the canton continental sector known as ‘El Relleno’.

The soldiers will guard the possession of the new regional officials to be held today. This ceremony will be attended by the elected Councilors Eduardo Proaño and Ferrary Zambrano, (AP), Polo Tello (MPD), Carlos Acevedo and Danilo Corella (Avanza).

It is anticipated that a team from the National Electoral Council (CNE) attend the ceremony; it is still unclear the mechanism that will be used to refer the replacement of the deceased dignitary.
