Ministry of Defence denies alleged merger between Armed Forces institutions
During the week of September 15, documents have been distributed between military and police ranks on which the Ministry of Defense reports about an alleged merger of Social Security Institutes of the Armed Forces (ISSFA for its Spanish acronym) and the National Police (ISSPOL for its Spanish acronym) with the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS for its Spanish acronym). Furthermore, it is asserted that ascents bonuses will be delivered from 2017.
The Ministry of Defence clarified that these documents are “false, apocryphal and gross” and are nothing more than an isolated and external intention that aims to disturb the tranquility among the uniformed personnel.
Authorities are already conducting investigations to establish responsibilities and apply appropriate sanctions under applicable law.
On several occasions President Rafael Correa has also complained about the continuous rumors and messages circulating among soldiers for an allegedly removing of theirsocial security system.
