Ministry of the Interior sets deadlines for the registration of migratory permanence of Venezuelans and other foreigners

A new process must be carried out by all foreigners residing in Ecuador. This is the permanent migratory registry, a document that will allow the Government to know how many people of different nationalities have entered the country to stay temporarily or permanently.

Every day, Venezuelan migrants go to the Consulate of their country to try to obtain the documents they require.

This document also seeks to identify citizens who are “considered a threat or risk to public security and the structure of the Ecuadorian State.” Hence, this registration will be granted to all those who do not appear in “the records of State institutions related to public order and citizen security.”

The Ministry of the Interior clarifies that this document is not a visa. In fact, this process is independent of the immigration status of each citizen.

The official decree indicates deadlines for foreign citizens to carry out this procedure . The document even specifies established dates for the Venezuelan community residing in the country.

The Immigration Permanence Registration process will begin on September 1, 2022 in the following schedule:

• Venezuelan citizens and their family group, who have registered their entry through an official control point, will be able to start their registration process from September 1, 2022, to comply with the Immigration Permanence Registry.

• Foreign citizens of another nationality, who have registered their entry through an official immigration control point, may start their registration process from November 16, 2022, to comply with the Immigration Permanence Registry.

• Venezuelan citizens who entered the country irregularly, will be able to start their registration process from February 17, 2023, to comply with the Immigration Permanence Registry.
