Miracle of radiant Virgin could be a fraud
A team of Croatian scientists could claim that the alleged miracle of the statue of the Virgin Mary which radiated light in the famous Marian shrine in Medjugorje, has been a fraud.
According to their research, the “mysterious phenomenon” is caused by a type of fluorescent material.
Croatian chemist Pavle Mocilac, told to a local media ‘Jutarnji List’, that “someone with the desire to put on a show, has painted the statue with a material made from strontium aluminate.”
Since last Tuesday when believers first noticed the “extraordinary” phenomenon, more than 15,000 Catholic faithful have traveled to the place where the famous shrine is located in southern Bosnia.
The Catholic Church and the authorities have not spoken, but the researchers said that the use of fluorescent paint might be an act of good faith.
