More cameras are installed in borders with Peru and Colombia

The Director of the Integrated Security Service (ECU-911), Cesar Navas, said that 250 monitoring points will be set up in six provinces of the North and the South of the country. This will cost about $ 3’250.000.
The equipment to be installed have an effective visual range of about a mile, while current cameras have a range of 500 meters. They are also equipped with infrared systems that allow visualization in cases of poor lighting.
Navas said that the goal is to improve the fight against crime in these provinces, mainly in cases of drug trafficking, fuel smuggling and illegal arms trade.
