Nadia Mejia humorously responds to criticism for her response in the Miss USA 2016
Miss California Nadia Mejia, who is the daughter of Ecuadorian rapper Gerardo Mejia, was among the five finalists for the Miss USA 2016 beauty pageant. Although she did not win the crown, she won the title of ‘an audience favorite.’
In the round of questions, Miss California had to answer how the United States could overcome the economic and social gap between the rich and the poor. Her response was not the best and the fact sparked criticism on social networks.
Some criticized Nadia for not responding adequately and some criticized the organization of the event for making such complex questions for which even experts in economics or politicians have managed to find a solution.
However, she posted on Instagram a video of her with one of the Backstreet Boys, Howie Dorough, parodying the rhythm of the famous song ‘I Want It That Way.’
“Tell me why,” says Dorough marking the rhythm of the popular song. “I do not know about economy,” sings Miss California.
On Instagram, she answered to her critics that after hearing the jury’s question, she prayed to God to say the right words, and God answered her: It takes more than 30 seconds to respond to this judge.
