Mars
This morning, NASA announced its next mission to Mars by 2016, calling it “Insight“.
The main objective of this second mission to the red planet is to understand how and in what way this planet evolved so differently than the planet Earth.
InSight would travel equipped with instruments to investigate whether the core of Mars is liquid or solid, and why is not divided into tectonic plates like in our planet.
Charles Bolden, head of NASA, stated, “Mars exploration has become a top priority for NASA and the selection of InSight ensures that we will continue to unravel the mysteries of the red planet and lay the foundation for a human mission”.
The cost of this mission will be between $ 425 million which would comprehend launch system and maintenance services.
