National Chamber of Aquaculture discards a tilapia virus
EcuadorNews:
Jose Antonio Camposano, executive president of the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), ruled out affectations to the production of tilapia in the country by the virus of the tilapia lacustrine, known as TiLV (Tilapia Lake Virus).
The warning came after the publication last Friday of a report from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) confirming this syndrome, which does not affect human health and has spread through Ecuador, Colombia, Egypt, Israel, and Thailand.
In a video aimed at the media, Camposano discarded this information. “Once the FAO report was known, we contacted the production units dedicated to tilapia farming in the country and we can assure that the productivity indexes are the best recorded in recent years,” he said.
