National Soccer on mourning; sports leader is killed

Monica Gordon, 39, presidential candidate of the Aucas soccer team, was killed yesterday in her office around 08:00, in the presence of her two children and her father, Ramiro Gordon, administrator of the team from Quito.

According to information from the Homicide Unit of the National Police, Gordon “has a hole similar to that produced by the passage of a firearm projectile, at the height of the right mammary region”.

The victim’s father said he has identified the author of the shooting, who would have said: “now it’s your turn. This is on behalf of Aucas’ honor”, at the time of shooting. Also, the Aucas administrator announced his resignation.

Monica Gordon is having her wake in Gardens of Santa Rosa, Quito. Her funeral will be carried on at 17:00 today in the same cemetery. Only her family may be admitted to the place.
