Nebot says new announcement law of inheritance and capital gain is a serious mistake
Mayor Jaime Nebot has described the announcement that President Rafael Correa will send new bills inheritance taxes and goodwill as a “serious mistake: economic mistake, serious social mistake, serious political mistake”.
“More taxes, more impoverished, more distrust, because it touches the right of Ecuadorian families to progress. The Ecuadorian family does not want a partner that has not hired. That partner would be the state tha will take part of the natural earnings of a person who invested in a house, on a land. The family does not want to have an heir who has not begotten, one more son that takes an absurd part of what people leave when dying, “Nebot said.
“So that’s a serious economic mistake. Not only because it is not convenient, but because mistrust, legal uncertainty, pessimism are increasing in the country and what that does is harm people because of the lack of investment, employment, liquidity, growth to Ecuadorians, and especially the poorest “.
“And it is a serious social mistake, because these measures generate poverty not wealth, and poverty is what we must fight, not what we have to incentivize” (I).
