New assignment in the city council
The seven members of the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) took over the investigation of cases of alleged corruption by government officials.
On November 26 they approved the regulation of Complaints and Requests, without disclosing the document, because they had discussed it internally in a workshop. Thus, they decided to repeal the Regulation for the Processing of Complaints and Requests concerning acts or omissions that affect the citizen participation, approved in 2013 by former members of the body.
Section 15 of the new rule provides that the Technical Secretary of Transparency and Fight Against Corruption, Geovanni Bravo, with the “prior approval” of the president of the Council, Raquel González, will be able to “initiate the investigation procedure when the council learns about alleged acts or omissions that affect the rights of participation, generate corruption or undermine the public interest, through different means.”
