Posted On 19 Jul 2013

The Adviser of the Ministry of the Interior of Ecuador, Veronica Feican, said today in Lima during her participation in the “Binational Forum for Child Protection: Human Mobility And Human Trafficking, Peru-Ecuador”, that  Ecuador is promoting a law to combat human trafficking on the border with Peru.

According to figures from the System of Registration and Statistics of the crime of human trafficking, between 2004 and 2012, 1960 victims  of the crime of human trafficking were registered in Peru, including 763 children and teenagers who were subjected to sexual and labour exploitation.

Counselor Feican emphasized that “is vital to sign the Protocol to protect victims and to achieve cooperation agreements”, as has been done with Colombia.
