New request to suspend the frequencies contest
A new request for suspension and a new citizen observatory were made regarding the frequency distribution bid for radio and TV.
The first was made at the Assembly. The head of the Pachakutik block, Cesar Umajinga, asked the Council for the Regulation and Development of Information and Communication (Cordicom) to stop the process.
“Most media have gone wrong in the last 10 years. They have been sanctioned and even closed. We defend the freedom of expression and, therefore, ask for the suspension of the contest,” he said during a press conference.
He warned that the allocation of frequencies is related to the election issue of next year and can “be used to blackmail the media.”
At that point they observer citizens of the contest agreed. They ‘debuted’ yesterday.
