Nigerian authorities reach agreement with Boko Haram to free abducted girls
The Nigerian Army ensured this Friday it has achieved a ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram terrorist group, that could cause the immediate release of the more than 200 girls abducted in a school in the Chibok village.
The head of the Nigerian Staff, Alex Badeh informed through a statement released to the media that the agreement would end the terror campaign by the group.
“I wish to inform citizens that we have reached a ceasefire agreement,” said the official. Badeh gave no further details about it, but government sources cited by various local media report that it would include the imminent release of the girls.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the terrorist group stated to the station “Voice of Nigeria” that the minors are “safe and in good conditions.”
However, some analysts quoted by media as the “Premium Times” newspaper, doubt the validity of this advertisement and recall that in the past the military said similar measures that were never implemented.
