Nomination of a Delegate for the Tripartite Commission was Blocked

Posted On 15 Jul 2011

Ecuadorian opposition parties blocked the appointment of Tania Arias as the government party delegate to be part of the Judicial Council of Transition with 63 votes against her. The Government has only managed to gather 52 votes.

The session was set at 15:00, as planned. The intention of the ruling bloc was to elect their deputy to lead the Tripartite Judicial Commission in the next 18months.

After failing to reach agreement, the session was suspended by Fernando Cordero, President of the Assembly.
