The family of the brothers Roberto and William Isaias, former owners of Filanbanco, would have donated $ 320 thousand dollars to U.S. political campaigns since 2010, mentions a report of the newspaper The New York Times (NYT), citing official reports.
The Isaiah´s are judged in Ecuador by an alleged Bank embezzlement; they currently reside in Miami (USA). The Ecuadorian Government has made a request for extradition against them.
The note, published last Tuesday, indicates that about $100,000 were supposedly donated to more than one dozen members of the Congress, including Senator Robert Menéndez, Democrat of New Jersey; representative Ileana Ross-Lehtinen and Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida. They have admitted to tried to help the family with their immigration problems.
