Official Call Tomorrow and CNE has no rules for press

The National Electoral Council (CNE) will make tomorrow the official call to the elections of February, 2013, and the agency still has not yet issued regulations to limit coverage of the electoral process carried by the press.

In theory, the CNE will watch the media with the aim of enforcing Article 203 of the Code of Democracy.

Article 203: “the media should refrain from direct or indirect promotion, either through reports, special programs or any other form of message, which would affect for or against a particular candidate, postulate, options, electoral preferences or political thesis.” (MZ)
