Oil sector, with debts and without work in Coca
The machinery used for oil field is paralyzed. On the road that connects Coca (the capital of Orellana) with Lago Agrio, four drilling towers, of more than 20 meters high, remain inoperative.
Cranes, trailers, ‘campers’ (mobile housing for camps), pumps and generators used to work in the fields and blocks also lie on the courtyards of the companies that provided services to the oil companies.
The collapse in the price of Ecuadorian oil, from USD 98 to USD 40, that has more than a year, has made that sales of companies that delivered services to companies like Petroamazonas also collapse.
In addition, these firms keep unpaid bills since last February, by tens of thousands of dollars. This is the case of MKP, a firm that assembled hydraulic pumps to extract oil from the fields of Petroamazonas.
