Posted On 13 Nov 2013
The Christies auction house in Geneva, sold the world’s largest orange diamond, of 14.82 carats, in 23.57 million euros ($ 31.5 million) representing a sales record for a diamond this color.
The price exceeded the estimated auction platform, which expected to reach 20 million for this bright orange gem “fancy vivid” also known as “fire diamond”.
The diamond named “The Orange” which was found in South Africa, has the highest rating of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA.)
Colored diamonds reach in market much higher prices per carat because they are rare and even for being absolutely perfect translucent stones.
