Pablo Celi orders to open new exams works of Odebrecht
Ecuadornews:
On June 14, 2017, and by means of an official memorandum, Deputy Comptroller Pablo Celi ordered the Comptroller’s Office of Audit and Environment to carry out new special engineering examinations in four infrastructure works involving the construction company Odebrecht, works that have already been drawn up with audit reports.
Of these, three were carried out by government institutions and one by the Municipality of Quito.
The first one corresponds to the engineering and the processes of operation of the project “Poliducto Pascuales Cuenca”, by Petroecuador. This order includes “the liquidation of the construction contract”.
The second special review refers to the execution of the project “Acueducto Presa La Esperanza-Refinería del Pacífico”, which is the responsibility of the mixed economy company Refinería del Pacífico Eloy Alfaro.
The third intends to review the liquidation and maintenance of the contract for the construction of the “Trasvase Daule-Vinces” irrigation project, developed by the Public Water Company.
The fourth special examination is aimed at the liquidation of the contract for the construction of the “Ruta Viva”, by the Metropolitan Public Enterprise for Mobility and Public Works, which is part of the Municipality of Quito.
These audits are in addition to some thirty reports made in the last ten years by the Comptroller to the contracts signed between public institutions and Odebrecht. (I)
