Panamanian Court declares legal the arrest of Lara and his extradition will be decided in 45 days
The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Panama, declared yesterday as legal the arrest of former Assemblyman Galo Lara and in the next 45 days, the Foreign Ministry of Panama will decide wheter they accept or not the request of Ecuador to extradite him.
The judges of the organism took the decision during the extradition and apprehension control hearing installed yesterday afternoon.
The Ecuadorian Prosecutor, through social networks, confirmed the information about the resolution of Panamanian judges. Once legalized the arrest, said the attorney, “the extradition process will begin” against Lara.
Lara’s defense questioned the decision and announced they will pose a criminal proceeding against officials of the Foreign Ministry of Panama for having taken away political asylum to his client.
