Patiño confirms extradition request of Galo Lara
“The National Court of Justice ordered the extradition. We have sent it to Panama, requesting the extradition, given that the asylum has been revoked,” said the Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño yesterday regarding the extradition request of former legislator Galo Lara, convicted as an accomplice of a triple homicide occurred in 2011.
Thus, the government formalized its position after the state of Panama decided to revoke the category of political refugee to Lara.
Patiño said that there was no “exchange” or agreement to return the Doria boat in exchange of Lara. This ship was captured months ago with a cargo of psychotropic substances in Ecuadorian territory.
“It would be the last straw. to make a barter between drug trafficking and Galo Lara … In none case we condition any barter ,” he emphasized.
