Patiño said that KAS Foundation leaves because they had ‘nothing to do’ in the country
After 50 years of presence in Ecuador, the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS for its Spanish acronym), left the country. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ricardo Patiño, said yesterday that this is because this entity no longer had “nothing to do” in the country.
According to Patiño, the KAS held programs in Ecuador to support the Christian Democrats political group, which disappeared in 2013.
“The Konrad Adenauer leaves because they have nothing to do. The political organization to which they breastfeed is gone”, he said.
Patiño highlighted that in 2011 and 2013 the Ecuadorian government established new policies for international organizations in Ecuador, including the control and monitoring of their activities.
“If they left it will be because they dislike that we have the right to review what they planned to do in our country”, concluded the Chancellor.
