Patino shakes again the hornet’s nest of the Navy
The deterioration in relations between the government and the Armed Forces continues to deepen. This time the hottest bulb of tension is within the Naval Forces, where the high command is angry and restless. The reason: the intention of the Minister of Defence of promoting captain Lenin Sanchez Mino to the rank of rear admiral.
Resistance to this promotion has an administrative and a political face. Administratively it has to do with the conditions under which Sanchez would be promoted. According to military sources consulted by the 4Pelagatos website, Sanchez does not have the score required for this promotion. However, the Ministry of Defence would accept an appeal for review submitted by him in order to be assigned the points that are missing. This, according to the high command, is illegal because military regulations and standards guarantee the autonomy of the internal processes of the armed forces and also the deadlines for a resolution like this would have been violated.
