Patriotic Society, suspended for 12 months

The National Electoral Council (CNE) yesterday suspended the Patriotic Society party for 12 months because it allegedly did not justify the administration and use of more than a million dollars of public resources during the financial year 2015.
If this justification is handed over in the course of the year, the sanction will be lifted, but if this does not happen, Patriotic Society could disappear.
Yesterday, the CNE also decided to deny the request for forms made by political activist Fernando Balda, who intends to collect signatures and call a referendum to convene a Constituent Assembly.
The electoral body considers that the process should begin with a request to the Constitutional Court (CC).
