Petroecuador staff detects another threat in the Daule River
Posted On 24 Jun 2016
With absorbent barriers, organic material and special cloths for the collection of fuel residues, spills specialists of Petroecuador seek to prevent further pollution. High tide is one of the challenges faced by the staff working for last three days in the bunker containment, whose spillage caused that all Guayaquil runs out of drinking water.
But there is another threat. On the site, there are plenty of algae in the middle of the bunker stains, and in case of leaving the place of containment (km 24 of the Daule highway) it would represent a risk for the La Toma Interagua plant, located at km 26 1/2, that is 2 km and a half down the highway.
